WOLFSBURG — Volkswagen Group could be open to sharing its new electric vehicle platform with Ford.
VW and Ford said in June that they were considering a development and production alliance that would include light commercial vehicles to strengthen both companies’ competitiveness.
On Tuesday, VW Chief Financial Officer Frank Witter said the automaker’s strategy is to open up the company much more to partnerships.

Tesla was accused in a U.S. lawsuit of misleading consumers into believing that the Autopilot system on its vehicles can safely transport passengers at highway speeds.

Chinese electric vehicle developer Faraday Future said on Tuesday its co-founder Nick Sampson has resigned, a week after the cash-starved company planned pay cuts and layoffs to reduce operational costs.
Faraday Future, which has ambitions of overtaking Tesla, said its senior vice president for global product and technology, Peter Savagian, has also stepped down.

At one point, Daimler owned 10 percent of Tesla. That was back in 2009 when the German auto giant acquired stock in Tesla in an effort to collaborate and develop electric car technology.

MILAN — Fiat Chrysler Automobiles reported higher earnings for the third quarter despite losses in Europe and Asia.
Adjusted earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) rose 13 percent to 1.995 billion euros, the company said in a news release Tuesday.

FRANKFURT — Volkswagen CFO Frank Witter said the carmaker was open to deeper alliances with outside companies, particularly in the area of autonomous driving, where Google’s Waymo is seen to be an industry leader.

WOLFSBURG — Bentley is considering launching its first full-electric vehicle to help reduce its fleet CO2 emissions as lawmakers throughout the world introduce stricter reduction targets.
If approved, the EV would be launched before 2025 on a platform under development by Volkswagen Group sister brands Porsche and Audi.
