New 2020 Citroen C3 facelift arrives with updated look inside and out

The Citroen C3 supermini gains a new look and new options, but no new engines to go with 2020 refresh

This is the facelifted Citroen C3, which is aiming to add further customisation options to the range in a bid to stay competitive against the likes of the Ford Fiesta and brand new Renault Clio.

The exterior design has been tweaked, the level of on-board technology improved and the interior updated with Citroen’s latest seating technology to keep the C3 competitive in its fourth year on sale.

From the outside the updates bestowed upon the brand’s supermini are fairly minor. The front detailing above the grille has been changed to mimic the X-shaped front profile of the Cxperience concept car from 2016, and the newly fit chrome LED detailing leads to new LED headlights, found on every version of the car.

There are also different bumpers at the front, new wheel arch extensions, plus freshly redesigned Airbump rubbing strips along the sides, while the three-quarter panels have been tweaked too. Buyers can pick from two new paint finishes, four new exterior colour packs and four roof colours, plus a new design of 17-inch alloy wheel is available.

There are no mechanical changes – the car’s Euro 6-compliant engine line-up stays the same – so the focus is on trims. Buyers can pick from four new colour packs and four roof colours, plus a new design of 17-inch alloy wheel and a pair of interior treatments.

Inside, the cabin also gets new Advanced Comfort seats taken from the C4 Cactus, and there’s a new ‘Techwood’ interior scheme with faux-wood strips on the dashboard. front parking sensors are now available too, but other than that the level of on-board technology stays the same, and no chassis changes have been announced.

The new C3 is due on sale in April, with first deliveries likely to start in June. There’s no word yet on pricing, but expect only the most modest of increases over the current range.
