The all-electric Mercedes Concept EQV won’t stay a concept for long, with a production model set to appear at Frankfurt in September
Amongst a host of AMG performance cars on the Mercedes stand at the Geneva Motor Show, one of the unlikely stars was the Concept EQV, previewing an all-electric version of Mercedes’ ubiquitous V-Class MPV.
The Concept EQV features a large 100kWh battery with a claimed range of over 240 miles on the new, real-world WLTP tests. Equally important for the business buyers that love the V-Class is that you can get 60-miles-worth of charge in just 15 minutes from a rapid charger.

The Concept EQV’s batteries all sit under the vehicle’s floor, meaning no change to the space inside with six, seven or eight seat options available. A compact electric drive unit producing 200bhp sits at the front and drives the front wheels. Mercedes hasn’t quoted a 0-60mph time, but the top speed of the Concept EQV is 99mph.
While there’s no hiding the concept’s V-Class roots, the front of the car features large LED headlamp units plus a full-width, chrome grille featuring an LED light strip across the top – all in keeping with other models from Mercedes’ EQ all-electric sub brand, notably the EQC SUV. Blue hints around the 19-inch alloy wheels further hint at the concept’s electric power source.
Inside, the blue theme continues with an up-market combination of blue leather trim with rose gold fixtures – said to represent copper wire.
The latest version of Mercedes’ MBUX infotainment and connectivity system is also fitted, featuring a self-learning voice control system. The sat-nav will also take into account the battery’s charge and where charging is available, while an app will be able to pre-heat the car and pay for power top-ups.
As with all of Mercedes EQ concepts, the EQV won’t stay a concept for long. A production version will be shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, with sales starting shortly afterwards.
